A stride forward with…

Jonathan PortraitJonathan Wyatt
Jonathan is an extremely accomplished runner competing at an international level for three decades. From track, road racing and to the mountains and trails. He has participated in two Commonwealth & Olympic games. He spent more than 10 years trail racing at the top of the sport winning six World Mountain Championships and one Long Distance World Mountain title. From 27minute 53sec. PB at 10,000m, to winning the Mt Fuji 3000m of vertical ascent and finishing 21st in the marathon at the 2004 Athens Olympics games, he has a few lifetimes of running in his legs! Jonathan a New Zealander now lives in Italy. He is the running product development specialist for La Sportiva. He is also the president of the World Mountain Running Association.

Krissy PortraitKrissy Moehl
Krissy Moehl is an ultramarathon runner, coach, author, public speaker and race director. In her 20-year career, she has run more than 100 races. She has 60 female wins and 2 outright wins. Moehl’s impressive track record boasts first female finishes at the world’s toughest ultras including the UTMB, Ultra Trail du Mont Fuji 100 mile, Gaoligong by UTMB 160km, HURT 100, Hardrock 100 and several others. Her book, Running Your First Ultra (launched December 2015), shares her years of experience and aims to build the ultra community from the sport’s roots. Krissy is a Patagonia trail ambassador.

TimSquareBWTim Tollefson
Tim ran XC and Track & field at Chico State University where he was a 3 time CCAA Steeplechase Champion. He then spent several years competing on the road and became a 2 time US Olympic Marathon trials qualifier with a 2:18:26 personal best. In late 2014 he tried his hand at Ultra Trail racing and has since become 3 times USA National 50k Trail Champion, Ultra Trail Australia Champion, and earned 2 consecutive 3rd place finishes at UTMB and won the 2019 edition of Lavaredo Ultra-Trail 120km. Tim is a sport physical therapist living in Mammoth Lakes, California.

Denise PortraitDenise Bourassa – Tiny D
Denise is known in the running community as Tiny D. She has been racing competitively since 2008 with over 87 ultra races which speaks to her passion for ultra trail running. Her passion fuels her energy on the lookout for the next great adventure. In 2019 she celebrated her 50th birthday by racing the Bear Chase 50mi where she took first female. Other memorable races: 2020 HURT 100 mile 2nd female ; 2020 Brazos Bend 100 mile USATF Trail Championship 2nd female ; 2019 Lavaredo Ultra Trail 16th female ; 2018 San Diego 100 mile 3rd female ; 2016 Istria 100 miles 3rd female. Currently living in Lakewood Colorado she works as an Operating Room nurse in a level 1 trauma center.

Thomas Wagner
Growing-up Tom was a multi-sport athlete to become a passionate climber. During a semester studying in Colorado he found a new passion for running trails. He has finished strong over 48 Ultra’s so far. He prefers the longish races, but does not mind a good steep scramble or a technical sky race. Some highlights: 2007 UTMB in 35:02hrs; CR at 100 Miles of Istria 2016; 5 times 1st place and still CR at the Chiemgau 100 Miles; 1st place TransRockies Run Team; he competed and finished in all four races at the 2018 Skyline Scotland, a first, Tom’s energy is contagious! Tom is Austrian and works as a research assistant in hydrogeology at the University of Graz. He is part of the German Salomon Trail Running Team.

Clare is from Englewood, Colorado and studied coral ecology at Princeton University, where she ran cross country and track. She taught English in Southern Thailand, while also establishing a swim and environmental conservation program. Clare began running professionally in 2016 after winning the Leadville 100. She’s since won Western States (2019), CCC 101k (2017, UTMB series) and has the Fastest Known Times on the Zion Traverse and Joshua Tree Traverse. She’s proud to be sponsored by Patagonia, Petzl, La Sportiva, and Honey Stinger.

Abby is a physical therapist with 20 years experience working with athletes.  She studied anatomy and the biomechanics of human performance at Wake Forest University and she has a masters of physical therapy from the University of Delaware. She is the owner of Run Raleigh Physical Therapy & Performance lab in North Carolina where she and her team work closely with runners ranging from high school cross country to ultra marathoners and Olympians on both the rehab of injuries and the improvement of biomechanics to prevent injury. Abby is a strong and passionate runner, highly involved in her community and dedicated to her work.

Charlotte is a Sleep Specialist and Human Movement Scientist. She is both a clinician, working with individuals with sleep disorders and a researcher, where her area of interest is the impact of altitude on sleep and the impact it has on cognition and physical performance. She is one of several researchers responsible for running a research study during the UTMB each summer where the impact of severe sleep deprivation is assessed in relation to runner’s physical and cognitive performance. Charlotte is from the UK, a passionate trail runner, she lives with her 3 children and husband in Chamonix.

Lachlan, Jamie, Ewan MacLean – BROAR
Ewan, Jamie and Lachlan MacLean are three brothers that thrive on adventure. At the beginning of December 2019, they set-off to row 3000 miles non-stop across the Atlantic Ocean. They completed the crossing in 35 days, breaking a few world records in the process. The previous winter they met Chloë at a Sports Conference in Glasgow where she was a guest speaker; the bond was instant and she helped them prepare for all elements of the challenge ahead and all aspects of life during an expedition… this- of course – included an introduction to trail running! Raised on the NW coast of Scotland, they are an unstoppable crew bound by blood, salt and spirit!

Chloë has been an elite endurance athlete for over three decades. Her racing career started with track and cross country moving to roads and to the mountains and trails. Chloë has over 40 podiums in Ultra’s and mountain running and she’s a former mountain bike world champion. She has competed in extreme environment around the globe and she loves exploring the unknown, mentally and physically. She is a sport orthopedic consultant specializing in sport injuries, biomechanics and human performance. Speaker, coach, race director, author with her first book Trail, les clés pour performer sans se blesser (Glénat 2020). Sharing her passion and knowledge is an integral part of her life. Chloë is a Patagonia & Lyofood ambassador, Canadian she lives in Chamonix. She is the founder & director of the Festival.

Abby will introduce the benefits of different techniques such as dry needling, soft tissue release and joint mechanics to help enhance recovery, prevent injuries and maximize performance.
Running and our changing climate ; How runners can help the climate crisis
with Clare Gallagher environmental advocate and endurance athlete.
Clare will share her passion, extensive knowledge and expertise to open your horizon towards some proactive steps to a better future for the planet.

Sleep deprivation in ultra endurance runners: Impact on mental on physical performance with Charlotte Elsworth
Charlotte will discuss the impact acute sleep deprivation can have on your performance during a race, how can you prepare better and how best to strategize and plan your sleep during an event.

An intimate session with Tim through his on-going ultra career journey, the highs, the lows, the injuries, remarkable stories and tips to learn from.

Controlling the unpredictable with Chloë Lanthier
Racing in the extreme heat, through major storms, rain-snow and single digits. The physiological impact on your body, how to avoid the debilitating effect and tips for a resistant and adaptable mindset. Chloë will share stories and useful tips.
6pm CET – FREE
Training, racing, success and longevity with Tiny D
Tiny D will share her passion for racing ultra’s and mountain running and her driving force to maintain such a fitness level year after year. She will also share key training tips, some racing highlights and the importance of a balanced lifestyle.

12pm CET – FREE
Your Mountain-trail athlete’s profile with Chloë Lanthier
Chloë will share a profile she designed when working with elite athletes going through injuries, back to competition after an injury and when training for greater performance. A session that will give you instant feedback as an athlete and mountain-trail runner, a physical, mental and intellectual perspective with great insight on how to evaluate yourself, way better than a mirror, you don’t want to miss this!
5pm CET – FREE
It’s more about the environment and not so much about the pace with Tom Wagner
Tom’s Skyline Scotland 2018 journey, four races in one weekend – the other race experience! Why should you focus on ONE race when you get a chance to do all 4 on a single weekend! Tom will share an atypical race experience of a lifetime in Scotland.

Training for an Ultra ; be at your best for race day with Krissy Moehl
Krissy will share inspiring stories, training and secret tips to be at your full potential for the long distance on the single track. Come learn from Krissy’s remarkable Ultra career.

5pm CET – FREE
Lessons from the edge, pushing physical limits with the right mindset with Chloë Lanthier

From taking first female in the Iditarod Trail Invitational, a 580km winter unsupported bike race in Alaska to finishing 5th female in the Marathon of Sand 3 weeks later, Chloë will share stories (and tips!) when her mind became her biggest ally and how she learned to use it to push beyond.

Becoming a faster and stronger mountain-trail runner with Jonathan Wyatt
Talking about lessons learnt through a career of combining cross country, road, track and love for the trail. From being an Olympian to be a world mountain running champion. Jonathan will share valuable experiences and racing-training tips that will inspire beyond the single track.

Festival closing party with special guests BROAR
How mountain running and long hours on the trails of Chamonix help the MacLean brothers get ready for their biggest challenge at sea. They will share there intense journey from fears to mental resilience and how mountains meet oceans. Talented musician they will close this great week with some special waves!

The festival is a nonprofit organization, all proceed go towards administration and next year edition.
The number of participants per video is limited, make sure you register early!
